Ruusu (rose) is a decoration with a handsome dark red rose and leaves. This bold rose was designed by artist Anneli Qveflander for Arabia in 1958. Qveflander is known as a set and costume designer for Finnish opera and theatre.
At the time, Kaj Franck was head of model design at the Arabia art department. He preferred minimal designs, but many customers still desired flower decorations on their coffee cups. So Franck came up with the idea of a large and handsome contemporary design to counterbalance the pretty little flower decorations.
40 years later, Arabia Ruusu still stands out from other decorations. It is a favourite of many Finnish mothers. We recommend hand washing for this delicate porcelain coffee set.
A delightful gift or wedding present. A superb choice for any special occasion.
A side plate, dessert plate, bread plate or a plate for cake or sweet buns. This plate forms a set with a coffee cup. A celebratory Finnish coffee setting includes a coffee cup, saucer, cake plate with a spoon and a serviette for every guest.
This plate also functions as a bread plate at the dinner table.
These beautiful plates have some minor imperfections, such as a few tiny bubbles or dark dots on the glazing, and a few small scratches.
