Iittala Flora

Lush flower and plant decorations are the central motif of the delicate Flora series. Flora brings a certain freshness and lightness to the table setting. It’s perfect for dessert dishes, salad bowls, and drinking glasses.

The designer Oiva Toikka also made a sister series for Flora in 1970, called Fauna, featuring animals motifs.

The Flora series was originally made in 1966 at Nuutajärvi glassworks factory with five colours: clear, light blue, dark grey, violet, and amethyst. Flora was blown into a mould and the edges were cut using both cold and hot cutting techniques. You can differentiate between them by the rounded edges of hot-cut glass and the sharper, sanded edges of the cold-cut glass.

During his years as a designer, Oiva Toikka designed many different parts to the Flora series. Some parts had very short production periods, which makes them harder to find. The production period is specified on each item page, in the info table section.

Flora became a huge success with the public, so Iittala has later manufactured new batches, especially of the popular clear drinking glasses and pitchers. All Flora items sold at Astialiisa Online are made in Finland.

We recommend hand-washing for the Flora series as well as for all delicate vintage glass items. Flora is for cold dishes and drinks and it is not safe for microwave, oven, or any type of heating.
