The i glassware collection was designed for Iittala in 1956 by Timo Sarpaneva. It consists of everyday utility objects, tumblers and bottles, with special attention to their forms and colours. Sarpaneva and the engineering expert Keijo Laitinen created completely new colours broken with grey for the i-collection, including purple, blue, green and smoke glass. In a sense, Timo Sarpaneva brought glass art to the living-rooms of all Finns.
