Arabia Kalevala Plate 26 cm, Vintage

Kalevala (the Finnish national epic) decoration features large hand-painted flowers. This series has a beautiful artisanal feel, thanks to the hand-made and painterly decorations. Each dish feels unique and special attention has been given to detail. The model has beautiful soft sloping curves, that suggest relaxing cosy afternoons, forest cabins, and uncomplicated rustic living. The big bold print is particularly delightful, beaming with a peaceful and calm joy.

The series came in two patterns: flowers and clouds. The two patterns combined create interesting variety and the pattern flows nicely from one version to the next. They make a charming pair of friends, so it is such a delight to own both versions. Both versions also came in two colour variations: in shades of red and chocolate brown with black edges on a soft and creamy yellow ochre background; and a rare dark blue and brown version on a black background.

This nordic vintage dish is a hand-painted decoration produced as "ateljé" or artist studio production as special limited edition series. Due to their small hand-painted editions, atelje series can be quite rare.

A plate for a main course, often used as a dinner plate. This is usually a flat plate type.

This beautiful plate has some sings of wear such as scratches. There are also pinholes in the glazing.
