Sipuli (an onion) is a black ornament decoration in which the everyday onion has taken on an ornamental floral shape.
Arabia Sipuli features Esteri Tomula’s signature beautifully thin pencil lines, and like all her designs is elegant and a little playful. Tomula's designs are often inspired by Finnish plants and animals, and their style is like a storybook illustration.
The black screen-printed decoration is printed on top of the glaze, and is therefore delicate. We recommend hand-washing for this nordic vintage dish.
A plate mainly for soup, that can also be used as a bowl for breakfast, pasta, rice or side dishes. These multi-purpose traditional deep plates have a decorative edge that beautifully frames the food.
The wide edge makes it easy to pass around the dishes and supports cutlery. For this reason, the deep plate also serves as a beautiful serving dish. Thanks to the edge the plate is firmly seated on drying racks.
These plates may have small unglazed spots on the edges from where the tripod legs touched during the glazing process. This is not a defect, but a feature of the production process.
The lovely plates have minor sings of wear and small scratches. They do not show well in photos.
