Rosmarin (rosemary, a herb) features hand-painted flowers, leaves and stripes in a beautifully warm reddish brown tone.
The highlight of this design is the artful and calligraphic brush-strokes, which have required extreme skill. Arabia was indeed much admired for the talent of its ceramic painters. The hand-painted nature of the pattern makes each dish excitingly unique and the colours shift in tone from pale watercolour washes to deep and luxurious tones. This change in colours give the simple design an exciting illusion of three-dimensionality and depth.
This Nordic vintage design and decoration were both made by the same artist, Ulla Procopé. The decoration was also made in blue under the name Anemone.
These beautiful hand-painted Rosmarin egg holders have some small imperfections in the glazing, such as tiny bubbles or lumps and a few extra drops of paint or varying tones in the hand-painted pattern. Please see the additional photos.
