Arabia Kekri Plate 17,5 cm, Vintage

Kekri (traditional Finnish harvest festival celebrated in autumn) has a graphic and abstract blue or brown decoration made by screen printing.

The beautiful modern decoration with lovely thin lines was made by Raija Uosikkinen. It depicts flowers and wheat stalks, which seem to be dancing in the cool autumn wind. The pattern is laid out in a circle shape, like a snow-flake, and reminds us that the autumn will soon change to winter.

This nordic vintage pattern is a great example of design from the late 1960s, when Finnish folk arts and craft motifs were popular. In Helsinki the traditional Kekri festival is still celebrated each year at the Suomenlinna fortress island.

A side plate, dessert plate, bread plate or a plate for cake or sweet buns. This plate forms a set with a coffee cup.

There are some minor imperfections in these cute plates, such as a few tiny dark dots or blue spots and some tiny inaccuracies of the print. There are also some sighs of wear and tiny scratches. The additional photo shows examples.
