Rosmarin (rosemary, a herb) features hand-painted flowers, leaves and stripes in a beautifully warm reddish brown tone.
The highlight of this design is the artful and calligraphic brush-strokes, which have required extreme skill. Arabia was indeed much admired for the talent of its ceramic painters. The hand-painted nature of the pattern makes each dish excitingly unique and the colours shift in tone from pale watercolour washes to deep and luxurious tones. This change in colours give the simple design an exciting illusion of three-dimensionality and depth.
This Nordic vintage design and decoration were both made by the same artist, Ulla Procopé. The decoration was also made in blue under the name Anemone.
A plate mainly for soup, that can also be used as a bowl for breakfast, pasta, rice or side dishes. These multi-purpose traditional deep plates have a decorative edge that beautifully frames the food.
The wide edge makes it easy to pass around the dishes and supports cutlery. For this reason, the deep plate also serves as a beautiful serving dish. Thanks to the edge the plate is firmly seated on drying racks.
There are some small imperfections on these practical plates. For example the brown colour is a slightly uneven on the hand-painted stripes and there are a few tiny bubbles, lumps,pinholes or darker dots on the glazing.The Arabia factory labels have worn off. Please see the additional photos.
