Halla (frost in the fields) was one of the first series produced by Pentik – the most northern ceramic factory in the world. This tableware series has gained reputation for its round shapes and handicraft feel.

Pentik Halla is made with Pentik’s famous ‘dotted ceramic’. According to Pentik, the naturally iron-rich clay of the Arctic causes spots in their ceramic mass. It was the idea of Kaj Franck to add more iron into the ceramic and highlight the spots as a local specialty. This evokes the image of the surface of beautifully speckled bird eggs.

A set of a cup and a saucer for hot drinks. Usually used for serving tea, but also hot chocolate or coffee with milk. Did you know that Finnish vintage teacups are actually rarer than the coffee cups? This why they are also more valuable.
