Arabia Rosmarin Demitasse 0,1 l, Vintage

Rosmarin (rosemary, a herb) features hand-painted flowers, leaves and stripes in a beautifully warm reddish brown tone.

The highlight of this design is the artful and calligraphic brush-strokes, which have required extreme skill. Arabia was indeed much admired for the talent of its ceramic painters. The hand-painted nature of the pattern makes each dish excitingly unique and the colours shift in tone from pale watercolour washes to deep and luxurious tones. This change in colours give the simple design an exciting illusion of three-dimensionality and depth.

This Nordic vintage design and decoration were both made by the same artist, Ulla Procopé. The decoration was also made in blue under the name Anemone.

A demitasse, or espresso cup is a smaller sized coffee cup for stronger coffee, mocha. It comes with a saucer, and it is usually about half the size of a normal coffee cup. Demitasse cups bring a more nostalgic, delicate style to the modern coffee culture, perfect for smaller amounts of stronger coffee.

These lovely Rosmarin demitasse cups have some production imperfections: The glazing might be a bit uneven and there are a few tiny lumps and bubbles. There is also some inaccuracy in the hand-painting, like a few extra drops of red or blue colour inside and a few dark dots. The Arabia stamps on the bottom of the saucers have worn off and there are some sings of wear on them. Please see the photos for examples.
