Kuusi (a spruce tree) is one of the popular glass designs inspired by nature. Spruce is the dominating tree in about one third of Finnish forests. Spruce forests can bring us a livelihood, but also some recreation.
They are perfect for an outing: we can pick mushrooms or berries, and fetch a Christmas tree in the winter. Each side of the octagonal glass is decorated with a spruce tree.
These design glasses are made of thick mould-pressed glass. This type of decoration refracts light and has a brilliant sparkle. Thick mould-pressed glass is also wonderfully strong and practical - made with everyday use in mind.
A speciality of vintage Finnish glass are the lovely surface patterns, which are really enjoyable to hold and touch with your fingers.
