Arabia Our Sunrise Wall Plate, Vintage

Arabia HLS wall plates with animal-themed painted decorations are a rare treasure of ceramic art. They were designed by Heljä Liukko-Sundström for the members of the Great Finnish Book Club (SSKK Suuri Suomalainen Kirjakerho) in the 1990s. Only a limited edition of 600 pieces were made, each signed on the front by the artist.

In her own sweet style, Heljä has drawn animals loved by Finns – familiar to everyone from the garden to the summer cottage (squirrels, crows, hedgehogs and black-throated divers). The series has four wall plates: Early Bird, Our Sunrise, Yours or mine, and Nesters.

This lovely wall plate is in good vintage condition and ready to be hanged on the wall. It has minor marks of use, such as wear, and two tiny scratches on the unglazed edge of the plate.
