Kekri (traditional Finnish harvest festival celebrated in autumn) has a graphic and abstract blue or brown decoration made by screen printing.
The beautiful modern decoration with lovely thin lines was made by Raija Uosikkinen. It depicts flowers and wheat stalks, which seem to be dancing in the cool autumn wind. The pattern is laid out in a circle shape, like a snow-flake, and reminds us that the autumn will soon change to winter.
This nordic vintage pattern is a great example of design from the late 1960s, when Finnish folk arts and craft motifs were popular. In Helsinki the traditional Kekri festival is still celebrated each year at the Suomenlinna fortress island.
Traditional vintage tableware sets usually include one round platter and 1-3 oval or rectangular platters. It has been typical for a Finnish table setting to use a few larger deorative serving dishes to create a beautiful display. These serving dishes were not used for cooking or preparing food, simply for the pure joy of presentation.
This beautiful traditional serving dish is in good vintage condition. There are however some small imperfections, like small scratches and lumps on the glazing. Please see the additional photo.
