Arabia Moomin Millenium Wall Plate, Vintage

The Arabia Moomin Millenium 2000 decoration was designed to celebrate the change of the millenium in 2000. It shows the Moomin family having a feast and drinking champagne, while Hemulens light fireworks to brighten the night sky. A flag with the numbers 2000 flies above a wintery Moomin valley covered in snow.

The central motif came from the Moomin comic strip from 1959, and the Hemulens are from a Moomin picture book, whilst the wintery landscape is based on a Moomin Christmas calendar.

The Millenium design is a rare special limited edition much admired by collectors. It is indeed one of the most popular and sought after of the special edition Moomin dish series.
