Tsaikka glasses can be found in many Finnish homes. They are practical and popular, and there is a story behind the design.
In the 1950’s Timo Sarpaneva was contacted by a company manufacturing zippers made of steel. Cutting the zipper off the steel plate left a strip that reminded lace. They wondered that maybe the strips could be reused in production of Christmas decorations. Timo Sarpaneva started testing the material and ended up designing a glass holder for glasses known nowadays as Tsaikka.
Used for serving hot drinks like tea or glogg, a traditional hot drink for Christmas time.
The logo stickerhas been removed from most of these beautiful glasses by their original owner.
