Ruska was in many ways a groundbreaking design from Ulla Procopé in the 1960’s. It’s oven-to-table capability, durability in daily use, and it’s rustic and earthy look define this extremely popular series.

Ruska’s rugged surface, similar to Japanese Raku pottery, was created with an unusual decorating method: powdered iron was applied to a matte glazing, giving each piece a slightly unique artisanal and smoky look.

Paratiisi designed by Birger Kaipiainen, has won hearts for over 50 years, with its rich and imaginative violet and fruit decorations. The showy blue-and-yellow and black-and-white versions are familiar eye-catchers in Finnish everyday and festive table settings.

The artistic design of the internationally-known Paratiisi series is guaranteed to bring a sense of the special to any coffee table.

Lush flower and plant decorations are the central motif of the delicate Flora series. Flora brings a certain freshness and lightness to the table setting. It’s perfect for dessert dishes, salad bowls, and drinking glasses.

The designer Oiva Toikka also made a sister series for Flora in 1970, called Fauna, featuring animals motifs.

The gorgeous cobalt blue hand-painted patterns make Valencia one of Arabia’s most highly prized series. The calligraphy-style spontaneous brush strokes demanded by Ulla Procopé required great artistic sensitivity from the painters.

Valencia is highly desired for its artful and distinctly hand-crafted look, as well as for the shimmer of the colour, which varies from item to item.

The Meri (the sea) series is worthy of its name. Inside the beautiful varying tones of the blue-green glazing are little black dots, as if tiny creatures of the sea.

The blue colour is finished off with a brown stripe like a distant shore line, which creates a peaceful and down to earth atmosphere - maybe we are not in the open sea, but in the archipelago.

Kaj Franckin Kilta on yksi Suomen tunnetuimmista astiasarjoista. Tämä jo 1940-luvun lopulla suunniteltu fajanssinen sarja sai odotetun jatkon modernista vitroposliinista valmistetusta Teemasta 1970-luvun lopussa. Suunnittelun lähtökotia olivat käytännöllisyys, monikäyttöisyys, edullisuus ja muotojen pelkistäminen perusmuotoihin.

Värillinen lasite oli ainut koristelu, jota tarvittiin. Arabian tehtaille syntyikin ainutlaatuinen erityisosaaminen värillisistä lasitteista. Kilta oli klassikko jo syntyessään ja myöhemmin Teemanakin tunnettu Suomen suosituimpana astiasarjana.

The Anemone (blue) and Rosmarin (brown) series features hand-painted flowers and stripes and it is made from dishwasher safe and durable S-model stoneware. The spontaneous style of decoration is characteristic of Ulla Procopé, with its hand-crafted look.

Several dishware sets were created for Anemone & Rosmarin including a tea service, coffee service, and dinnerware service. The parts in the Anemone & Rosmarin series are hand-painted, and so each item differs a bit from one to the other.

Kirsikka is the sweetheart of all Arabia series. The bright red cherries and fresh green leaves of the Kirsikka tableware and coffee cups make it a super cute, cheerful, and very sought-after series for both collecting and table setting.

The most collected series from the 40-year-career of Esteri Tomula has turned out to be Krokus, which was in production for only two years in the late 1970s. After a long and cold winter in Finland, the crocus flowers bring the spring into our homes.

Karelia is a great example of the Finnish style of well-defined decoration and simple forms of everyday ceramics. Durability and usability were key concerns for Anja Jaatinen-Winquist in her ceramic designs.
