Greetings from Finland!
The Humppila glass (Humppilan Lasi) factory was founded in 1952 in Humppila, Finland. It was founded by the Helander brothers: Olavi, Martti and Jonni who used to work for the Nuutajärvi glass factory. At the time of founding Humppila operated in an old cowshed.
Shipowner Rolf Alander bought the company in 1970 in a compulsory auction. He built a new factory building which started operating in 1971. Wärtsilä bought the factory in 1986 and during its ownership part of the production and warehouse space was turned into a shopping mall -like space with specialty stores. Nowadays the factory is owned by the Iittala Group Oyj, subsidiary of Fiskars Oyj.
